Distribution lines
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the Rural Energy Agency (REA), has set aside funds to carry out rural electrification projects in sixteen regions. The REA is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Tanzania. Its main role is to promote and facilitate improved access to modern energy services in rural areas of mainland Tanzania. The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) supervises the execution of the projects.
This project includes extension of existing lines in three locations in Tanzania:
Training
Symbion has established a long-term strategic partnership with Pike Electric. Pike Electric will provide design-engineering services and specialized equipment.
The Symbion/Pike project overlaps with another distribution project in Tanzania that will create a large demand for skilled labor in distribution line construction.
To increase the pool of skilled labor, Symbion will train local people at our training facility in Morogoro in collaboration with Northwest Lineman College.
Equipment
We will import mechanized plant equipment that is built specifically by Pike for transmission and distribution line erection in the United States.
