The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the Rural Energy Agency (REA), dedicated funds for rural electrification projects in sixteen regions. The REA is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Tanzania. Its main role is to promote and facilitate improved access to modern energy services in rural areas of mainland Tanzania. The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) supervises the execution of the projects.
This project included the extension of existing lines in three locations in Tanzania:
The Symbion project overlapped with another distribution project in Tanzania that created an increased demand for skilled labor in distribution line construction.
To increase the pool of skilled labor, Symbion trained local people at our training facility in Morogoro in collaboration with Northwest Lineman College.
